Percussionist and Band Leader, Lester Saucer is the founding member of Lester Saucer & Friends. Growing up in the Southeast section of Washington DC, Lester's love for the drums began at the early age of 10 when he taught himself to play. He always wanted to become a musician so he began working with a number of local Gospel, Jazz and R&B groups throughout the Washington DC Metropolitan Area for many years to gain the experience and knowledge he has.
With his God-given talent to teach himself the drums, he also developed the ability to listen to the tune or rhythm then pick the beat up and adapt the drum beat to the music. Lester has a strong passion as a percussionist, his attitude and sense of music is so natural that when he plays you would think he has had several years of professional training. His enjoyment and natural high of the music he plays shows his creative process and it is expressed to his audience when he plays.
Because of his love for music and his determination to become a well-known musician and percussionist, he decided to form his own band, Lester Saucer & Friends. The band is composed of some of the brightest musicians in the Washington DC Area. Over the past 15 years, Lester has put a large focus into the band. He has been the driving force behind the emergence of Lester Saucer & Friends as a recognized Gospel, Jazz and R&B Band, while composing material, producing the band's music, and directing marketing and promotion for the band as well. As if that's not enough, he is an in-demand percussionist on the national scene.
Lester states "All members of the band have equally important roles and the drummer's role is to set the tempo, keep it locked and steady, so in other words, set the groove, that is why I'm the "GROOVSETTER.""
Lester Saucer & Friends has played for various events to include the People's Inaugural Prayer Breakfast at the JW Marriott in Washington DC.
Currently Lester Saucer and Friends are working on their first CD. It is expected to be released by the end of the year.
